This pony is a thank-you gift for jupiter_oski on the MLP Arena. She loaned my her Garden Wishes unicorn for a photoshoot, and was very patient with me even though it took me a while to finish. So I offered to make a custom for her and she gave me a list of customs she would like to receive. Once I found G3 pony "Sunrise Song", I knew that I would make her a version of Galaxy!

The pink pony is Galaxy. ^_^

Display Side

Non-Display Side (Good view of her hair)

Front View of Her Face

My "2008 Custom Signature" on her back hoof

ETA: link to the thread on MLP Arena -- http://mlparena.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=156158.html

Message to self-- When funds are available, purchase from Dollyhair:
+ Bougainvillea and Hyacinth for Floral Hippo (funny how she ended up with flower-named hair colors, given her name)
+ Starlight/Moonlight blend for Cancer-stellation Pony WIP

----------------------

I had to put aside my Jem-bies for a while now. Room is an absolute wreck, Pony parts everywhere, and I'm thinking of packing it in for March (Have to finish my Valentine twins). April and May will probably be dedicated to "Schiz Trek 3: The Search for Twenty Ponies of the Same Pose" and OMG!GIRL, YOU CRACIE--Making the Gen3 Steedback Army. Possibly June as well, though I'm planning to do all the painting in late April and all the rehairing in May, rehairing takes me a long time so it may overflow into June.

That SAID, I want to be able to work on my Jem-bies in March. So I've compiled a list of hair colors. Not saying that they'll be DONE in March...my only goal is to have the makeup painted, and possibly finishing Pizzazz. (She is displeased that I haven't finished her...she's been sending me <strike>bad dreams</strike> hot yet disturbing dreams of the Flash molesting Batman, in costume. True story. Except for maybe the part where Pizzazz gave 'em to me...)

*-*-*-*

Kimber -- Sugarberry
Raya -- Strawberry Mousse/Watermelon Martini blend, or just plain Strawberry Mousse
Jem -- Pussycat/Candy Tuft blend, with Golden Sun or Goldilocks underneath
Aja -- Bobby Blue/Atomic Turquoise blend OR Atomic Turquoise/Water Nixie
Shana -- CustomPony "Blooming Lilac" (I'm guessing it matches Dollyhair "Wysteria", but since I have the CP skein...)

Stormer -- CustomPony "Deep Sea" (an exclusive color)? Not sure.
Pizzazz -- CustomPony "Lightning Bolt" (AKA Dollyhair "Electric Banana")
Roxy -- White Witch (::giggle:: Appropriate name.) or White Witch/Blizzard blend (Blizzard is a matte, true white; White Witch has hints of silver)
Jetta -- Black Magick (again, appropriate, given her opposition to Roxy) with streaks of leftover Starlight/Moonlight from Cancer-stellation since there's no way I'm putting tinsel in.
Clash -- Sour Grapes if I decide on Season 3 Clash, Sugarberry and Sea Nymph if I go with Season 2 Clash

Not trying to match the dolls (save Pizzazz, how can I pass up that glorious green?) but rather, the cartoon. Freakin' Stormer, though...Not sure that any color offered by Dollyhair or CustomPony will match her.

The boy unicorn with the stars on his rump is the only example I have saved to my files of the Deep Sea color. I think it's too dark, but the only color that Dollyhair offers that comes close to Stormer's is "Phthalo Blue" which is freakin' saran hair, and I don't have any experience rehairing with saran/katsilk type hair.

My other choice would be Forget Me Not, which is a medium blue color, but it looks rather drab. I suppose I could blend Forget Me Not and Bobby Blue...that might work. But oh, I am not sure at all. Bobby Blue is nylon hair that is slightly lighter and more vibrant that the saran Phthalo Blue. Looking at it on my monitor, though, I keep thinking Aja instead of Stormer.

Hm. Well, if you'd like to help, here's the link to Dollyhair's Nylon hair order page. It has all the colors:
http://dollyhair.com/nylonhair.htm

FREAKIN' STORMER ALWAYS CAUSING ME PROBLEMS!!

Here you'll find two versions of "clean up" that I did on a Jem Tank Top image. The image is from an actual vintage shirt (not like the artificially distressed shirts that are all the rage nowadays).

Since I'm not sure about the copyright and usability of the design, I'll have to ask that if you DO print this out for a shirt, that you do so not-for-profit. That is, don't sell the thing. I just did this for fun, and since I know there are other Jemfans out there, I decided to provide it to you all.

About a year ago, I made several Barbies from the thrift store into Jem dolls. I spent the hours when I wasn't working or out with my boyfriend at the time sewing doll clothes. I couldn't afford paint or colored nylon/saran hair, so I used permanent marker back then.

But now that I have the practice, supplies, and funds, I'm remaking my girls. They will all have the new "bellybutton" body mold (though some will keep the old heads) and be rehaired and repainted. The marker stained the vinyl badly on almost all of them, save Shana and Kimber. I'm not very sure about Jem/Jerrica...she's always had a blue spot on her face, so I just might make her over completely, even though she has the proper body and hair.

Anyway, the first doll I chose to remake was Pizzazz, from a "Summer" doll (Summer has green eyes, so I didn't have to repaint her eyes. Because each "bellybutton" body still has the little plastic deal with the hooks to keep the head on (Barbie collectors, you know what I mean), one of my spare "Twist n Turn" bodies that's missing the plastic neck piece is being used to model the heads.

Full Frontal! Eeek!

A view of each side of her face. The patterns aren't exactly symmetrical, but she's hand-painted -- whaddaya want from me?

Stormer's hair originally gave me a whole heap of trouble. The dark blue marker I used to color her hair wouldn't stick to the saran, and stained her vinyl face. In fact, the doll head used in the 'Photo Shoot' pictures on my DeviantArt account is her second head, with a blue wig sewn onto her head. Yes, sewn. It looks REALLY bad in real life.

Stormer's makeup, though, is too heavy to salvage her head (marker stains were really bad on ALL the Misfits). Kimber's face mold matches Stormer's, so I repainted that one to become Stomer. They're such close friends!

Unfinished progress picture of Stormer. You can kind of see the pink stains near her hairline, from when this head belonged to Kimber. I need to repaint the part of her scalp with the hair plugs to be blue.

Each side of Stormer's face. I do hope I put the beauty mark on the correct side of her face...but I have paint remover for if I didn't.

Well, I hope you liked the 'progress report' I put together for you. Oh, and Pizzazz has something to say:

I'm going to get my girls together before I let Schiz make any of the Holo-jerks, so don't you Misfit fans worry. And Schiz has been nice enough to give me a few locks of hair since these pictures were taken...soon, you'll be able to see me in ALL my glory. Don't forget to bring sunglasses...I'm told that my glory can be blinding for you mere mortals! Hahahaha...

Oh, lovely, Schiz. I think you made her ego even bigger.

Uh, Stormer? I'm over here.

Well, if you'd paint me some eyes, we wouldn't have this problem, now would we?

::sigh::

Stormer's a little more Misfit than some might think! ^_^

Um, basically this was written for the fact that such knowledge would make Craig's head explode. And that idea makes me giggle.

-----------

Play
Just because Roxy has never had to kick a man out of her room doesn't mean that Stormer's never had one there. Doesn't mean that she dislikes them, either.

She just doesn't want to ever share with Pizzazz, who's the kind of girl who steals, whose toys always get broken. Stormer likes men just fine (she prefers to play for a long time).

That's all it is, though. Play.

No matter how good the sex is, no matter how sweet and caring men are -- before, during, after -- it's only play. That’s what’s safest for her heart, after all.
I'm just really in a drabble-y mood, I guess.

Ever since reading The Jem Bible on the DVDs, I've wondered about Christy Marx's idea that Roxy passes off other people's songs as her own. Particularly because later episodes make it clear that she can't read.

--------

Unknowns

Roxy stared at the paper she held. Though she couldn’t read, she knew what it was – sheet music from her Philadelphia days. She’d helped her bandmate Jeanette come up with it.

Roxy didn’t have the right to pass it off as her own. But the Misfits needed songs.

Pizzazz had been harassing Stormer for weeks now, demanding something new. Roxy’s paper wasn’t exactly something new – just unheard. ApoCalypso hadn’t gone anywhere but down, despite good music. This song could help keep the Misfits from the same obscurity.

She handed Pizzazz the paper and wanted to cry, feeling like a traitor.

I've always, always wondered why Roxy went for Jeff during the filming of Starbright at World Studios. I guess this drabble is an attempt to explain why us Roxy fans didn't get it -- what kind of man we might think Roxy goes for, versus the kind of man Jeff is, and it's also an attempt to give reasons why Jeff was so attractive to her.
-------------

Jeff
She sees him on the set and likes him immediately, because he’s got confident eyes and a dangerous job. Roxy’s always been attracted to confident, dangerous men.

So what if he’s clean-cut every other way? So what if he doesn’t have long hair like she prefers to cling to when kissing men? So what if he’s got no tattoos to compare her little red heart to? He’s a man with a ready smile and strong muscles and enough brain that she won’t feel too smart or too stupid.

And he’s got a gorgeous motorcycle. That’s damn good enough for Roxy.

-------------

Also, this damn drabble set me thinking toward some kind of sad Roxy/Jeff story. I hate making my Roxy girl sad, but the plot bunny doesn't share my sentiments and won't leave me the hell alone!

So, I joined a beginners custom swap at the MLP Arena, and it was so much fun! It's kind of like a secret santa...everyone joins up who is interested, and we get assigned someone to make a pony for. This time, everyone wrote about what they wanted (I talked about liking winter and astronomy) and we were given roughly a month to finish them.

http://brendanicolecreations.com/mlp.html

Brenda Nicole was the swapper who made my gift -- Haleys Comet! Click on the above link for pictures of her.

I can't post pictures of mine before she arrives at the recipient's place, but rest assured that I WILL once it happens!

How To Take Over a Cartoon Series for Fun and Profit

Thanks to sweetvirago, I finally got an opportunity to see "The Stingers Hit Town". At the moment, I'm partway through the first episode in the two-parter, and I just had to write down my reactions now.

Eric Raymond
For once, he isn't portrayed as quite the slimy rat he once was. He's just a music executive tired of dealing with his prima donna main act, pushed to the limit and committed enough to sell his own house for a chance to control the company. I've felt sorry for Eric several times throughout the series, and this is the first time that I get the feeling Christy Marx did, too. As much as I love the Misfits, they can be a double-handful of trouble at the best of times. Also, poor Eric can never catch a break romantically! I feel like punching Minx now.

Riot
Totally disgusting. He's got his moment, but he is mostly an arrogant, self-important ass. I'm interested in the fact that he seems to be well versed in hypnotic induction. "Listen to the sound of my voice" is practically lifted from an induction script. And the fact that Kimber fangirlled over him like whoa...that had me giggling.

Pizzazz
The Stingers Plan for World Domination in Four Easy Steps:
1. Kidnap the real Pizzazz and replace her with a talented actor (possibly one of the girls from "The Fan")
2. Humiliate and degrade replacement Pizzazz
3. ???
4. Profit

Seriously, I cannot fathom what kind of crack Pizzazz must have gotten into (damn you, Clash! No wonder they ousted you!) right before meeting Riot. Maybe he looks like her mother (or, more likely, the guy that Gail ran off with), and she's made some strange association with Riot-love and Mommy's approval. What happened to our "animal on the loose" who scorned girls who were "mooning over this or that boy"? Argh!

Like a Dream
Oh, snap! Jem's appearing as her mermaid video-persona! Remember the last time the mermaid showed up...she was seducing Rio with the sexiest JatH song ever! Trouble in paradise, dead ahead.

On a related note, why are the Misfits and Jem sharing a hairdresser? I mean, come on! Jem's got spiky Misfit bangs!

Final Note
What the hell is with that giant harp on the cliffs?!

I just recently purchased a G1 Cotton Candy and Windy from basilidon, and I am extremely pleased with myself. Cotton Candy is definitely going to be the jewel of my collection. Click the link to see her: http://pics.livejournal.com/floral_hippo/pic/00001ypf/g1

She was advertised as lacking a tail, and appeared so when I took her out of the envelope. As I was inspecting her admiringly, for some reason, I got the urge to give her a little shake. When I did, I heard a faint rattling sound! Recalling what I had learned about loose tail washers and the trouble of rust from online sources, I carefully prised up the pony's head and peered inside.

Amazingly, instead of just a washer, I saw what appeared to be a bit of slender pink rope! Using my trusty needle-nosed pliers to fish it out, I realized that what I had discovered were the remains of Cotton Candy's original tail. It was quite tangled at the end, and twisted together like a braid. Also, it was damp, though the rest of the pony was dry, and none of the metal parts showed signs of rust.

The tangling was easy to take care of. I rinsed the skinny tail in water and added a little bit of conditioner, which I left in as I worked out most of the tangles. Then I applied a G3 pony-brush to the problem, and while I lost a few irreparably frizzed and knotted strands, the tail was restored. I knew that I couldn't just put it back--it would slip back inside the tail hole if I did.

I grabbed a fakie (what Ahrain calls a "Chubby Fakie") and chopped her in two, plundering her head and tail. I will probably use the mane to re-root Mini-Cotton Candy (also viewable in my gallery). I untied the knot that kept the tail together, added Cotton Candy's tail, and re-knotted the whole thing. I added the washer to prevent slipping, and inserted the tail into Cotton Candy. Voila!

Times New Roman for schizoauthoress. I would have gone with the 10-pt TNR, but I decided to be nice to my friends and make it so they wouldn't have to squint so much. ^_~ This has nothing to do with my horrendously horrendous eyeglasses prescription....pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!!

Oh, and I trimmed my comment thingie. I decided that the wordiness was getting to me, and that it was much better to be succinct. (Am I using that right?) (I am so insecure about my own vocabulary...)

On the Ponies front, we'll be heading to Kinko's when it's not deluged by so many people, and strange men use the scanner-capable computers for reasons unfathomable.

Adam took me to Toys 'R' Us a few days ago, and I bought two exclusive birthstone Ponies. One was July Jubilee, because that's my birth month, and the other was November Nights. She won't be November Nights for long, though, because I only bought her for her yellow-and-tinsel hair.

She's going to become a Chinese dragon pony, and I was thinking of naming her Xiao Long Nu, or Little Dragon Maiden. I was working from a teacup that I got from the thrift store for details, but mostly from memory. I made her red because red is a lucky color in China, and the gold is usually the accent color for red.

I've already painted her body red, put tiny gold beads on her belly, and glued lots of red sequins to most of her body. The basecoat of paint was put on in case there were ever any gaps in the sequin "scales", and I've made some "whiskers" for her from Sculpey clay. She also has black Sculpey horns and a back ridge of spikes -- I didn't mean for them to be black, but I baked the clay at the wrong temperature. Pictures, or at least a scan, to come soon.

At the moment, all I have to do is sequin the rest of her legs and underside. I never removed the jewel from her symbol, but it's only a barely noticable 'bump' on the one side. I braided her hair to keep it out of the way, but some pain has spotted the mane and base of the tail. I think a little 'Orange Goop' cleaner should get it out without ill effects.
